What are you reading?

Sunshine and warm weather must encourage me to read, because I have been reading quite a bit this summer.

Over the summer, I finished Huraki Murakami’s 1Q84, a three part crime drama /love story / hallucination heavily referencing George Orwell’s 1984. It is total page turner, every passage in this 944 page novel gripped my attention.

After I finished 1Q84, I moved on to Miranda July’s It Chooses You. It is a quick read, perfect for flights, lunch breaks or your daily commute. July is one my favorite artists, her novels or anything she creates for that matter (exhibitions, movies and essays).

Right now, I am finishing up Jennifer Egan’s A Visit From the Goon Squad, it is an interesting book, I can totally see it being turned into a movie, Egan has such a cinematic writing style.

Have you read anything good lately? Please don’t tell me to read 50 Shades of Grey! Yuck. I am not into mummy porn. But, seriously, have you read anything good lately? I enjoy contemporary fiction preferably books about art. Books written by Dan Brown don’t count.

Did you know the average American reads one book a year? Pretty sad.
